You Need

#PrerequisiteGet it
1Windows 11Your managed laptop. If it runs an older Windows, open a Top Desk ticket with the service desk.
2VS CodeDownload VS Code.
3A separate local admin accountDeveloper accounts are not local administrators. Open a Top Desk ticket with the service desk asking for a local admin account for Ember development. These accounts are named t2-<username>, such as AIM\t2-jdoe. You type it into Windows prompts when an install needs it. Never open a terminal as that account for Ember setup, because tools would install into its profile instead of yours.
4GitHub access to ATL-Trip-PlannerCreate a GitHub account with your work email if you have none, then ask your Engineering Manager, or someone above, to add it to the ATL-Trip-Planner organization.

Get the Skills

Run these in the VS Code terminal (Terminal, New Terminal), from your normal account. When Windows asks for administrator approval, enter your local admin account.

winget install --id Git.Git -e
winget install --id GitHub.cli -e

Close and reopen the terminal so both are on PATH, then:

gh auth login --web --git-protocol https
gh repo clone ATL-Trip-Planner/ember-platform-skills "$HOME\gitroot\ember-platform-skills"

If winget is not recognized, install App Installer first. If the clone says the repository is not found, your organization access from step 4 is not in place yet.

Then

Run the workstation setup from the clone. It does everything else:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "$HOME\gitroot\ember-platform-skills\skills\ember-workstation\scripts\workstation.ps1"

It enables WSL 2, installs the pinned toolchain and both agents, replaces Docker Desktop with Rancher Desktop after you confirm, and installs the agent extensions and the Ember plugin. Each install tries your own account first and asks for your local admin account only when it must. Anything you skip is recorded in ~/.ember/workstation-state.json and retried on the next run.

Not Needed Yet

Supabase, Render, Vercel, and Cloudflare accounts are not needed at the localhost tier. The sandbox operator grants least-privilege access when a project is promoted to sandbox.
